Agua Prieta
This town is located northwest of the State of Sonora and bordered on the north with Douglas, Arizona and to the east by the state of Chihuahua. Its´ name as people began to call the town by its first settlers, was taken from the word “bachicuy” of the Opata ethnic group, which literally means "black water". The Opatas named this fringe of Mexico, because there was a big puddle of water that served to give drink to animals and when men lead their animals to that place, the water of the pool remained blackish in this area for many hours until it gradually became to clear up. Agua Prieta, it is long established since 1898.
